Popeye record of 26 years topped... twice !

One of the longest standing, and most difficult to match, cag records has fallen.  On June 11, 2010 at the Northwest Pinball and Gameroom Show, Perry Rodgers made 1,238,110 points on Popeye.  This edged out the old score of 1,232,250 made by Steve Harris in 1983.  Congrats to Perry for the long-time dedication that led to him breaking this score on the arcade platform.

Amazingly enough, another Popeye player recently topped not only a million, but also both of the above scores, using MAME.  Forums member Ryan Sandnes (TheShado) made 1,469,440 points on June 22, 2010, and thus threw down the gauntlet to all current Popeye masters that he was a major contender, and expert.  Congratulations, Ryan.

A few of us were going to lunch when they were filming Don walking across the street, and we couldn't figure out what they were doing (other than maybe Frogger...guess that's what it turns out they did Grin ). I shot a couple pics of them (you can see the ESPN crew on the right side of the pic...too bad there was a car parked in the way). Also, here's a pic of them filming a closeup of Mark playing Marble with his famous weight-lifting glove.

Thanks for letting us know that this was up, Pat !  As some have said, it's about time !!  Who knows what took so long...

MDA...no meat. Grin

Yeah, I forgot about that part of the interview.  Perhaps I should have explained that I was referring to my arms, and not my... well, not my 'nether regions' !

Thanks to Fred for the pics, including the one of them filming me !
