Hello fellow gamers:

Having endured the 2:45 discussion with Walter, Scott and Roy, I can tell you that a lot was to be gained from participating. A few facts were made, and a few questions remain unanswered.

FACT (1) - Roy has yet to make public any of his videotaped performances, especially the recent claim of 1.8M on a tape that "ran out"
FACT (2) - According to Walter, within the body of the discussion, TGTS for MC was not invented until 1985...so how did Roy play at TGTS in 1984 ?
FACT (3) - Roy wants to challenge Tony at "marathon" settings in an effort to see who will lose the least cities by 1M. He can't beat Tony at TGTS, he can't even beat him at the so-called "100 wave" challenge that Roy, and only Roy, thinks is a better indicator of skill, so he comes up with yet another way to try to beat Tony. And notice that he wants (Roy said this) to have the results in the next Guinness Book. It's a win-win for him...he would get into a book regardless of the outcome. But the fact remains...unless Tony can attend, and he may not for business or family reasons or more, then Roy is planning this all for naught. I swear, when Roy announced his so-called challenge, I immediately thought of the scene in "Rocky V" where the character George Washington Duke announced at the press-conference celebtraing Rocky's return that he wanted his own man "Union Caine" to challenge Rocky Balboa in an event called "Letting it Go in Tokyo"...the parallel is unmistakable as Roy called it "The Missile Command Defend the CIties Challenge" to be held at the Arena in Los Angles, or wherever he wants it held.
FACT (4) - Amusingly enough, Roy tripped up on one segment where he described some scores set at the California Gaming Extreme...said he got 119 million on MC. Granted, this was a slip-up, but I chose not to make a stink over it.
FACT (5) - Roy actually said that there is NO DIFFERENCE at tournament settings between 1M and 2M due to "luck". An incredible statement to make considering how on his own web-site he says that his alleged 1.695M score is the greatest score of all time...so it can NOW be said that the greatest alleged score of all time (according to Roy) is purely luck. I can see where this is going...Roy will now exclusively be playing either 100 waves or least cities lost by 1M points, and playing at TGTS will be an afterthought.

UNRESOLVED (1) - TG's position is that MC manual 3 is correct...Roy says manual 2 is correct. Common sense would say manual 3, the later release, is correct. We did not achieve agreement on this.
UNRESOLVED (2) - not once did Roy offer proof on video tape of his achievements. Saying you have the tape(s) and showing them are two entirely different matters. He has recently gone so far as to say that they could be used as training videos, as if someone (for example) could roll "Centipede" just by watching a tape of Don Hayes.
UNRESOLVED (3) - Roy's so-called "comic book"...on a related note he said that it is not available at this time. Small wonder...it never was, but until a copy turns up, and I'd actually like to see two as opposed to just a master copy, I still do not believe it exists...but I guess we will never know.

A few points were made, a few points went unanswered and even unheard due to the shouting at one point. All participants, myself included, raised our voices at times, so it may be difficult to hear on occassion.

Some points were not made, and I shot these down...discussions that diverted, for example, to Steve Wiebe, Bill Mitchell and TG finances, or anything not directly MC-related. I tried my best to keep the discussion focused.

Well, that's it...download and hear for yourself.

Hello everyone:

Paul's recap suggests "Will 'TT' accept the Challenge and come from England to Southern California to defend his honor?".

That is a media stunt and nothing more. This is now the FOURTH (4TH) time that Roy has tried a stunt of this nature...

1st - when Roy tried to challenge Bill Mitchell openly on the forums about playing "Missile Command" versus "Donkey Kong"

2nd - when Roy's lawyer sent Bill Mitchell a document suggesting that he play versus Steve Wiebe at "Donkey Kong" and if he did not show up, then Roy would "declare Steve Wiebe" the champion (as if Roy declaring Steve a champion had any legitimate value to it)

3rd - when Roy, at Funspot 2006, had his "private investigator" (i.e. minion) present Tony with some papers suggesting a challenge similiar to what he mentioned on the AllGames show this past Friday (Todd Rogers can back me up on this one...he directly dealt with this "private investigator" back then

4th - this past Friday on the AGN interview

The pattern here is obvious...fame by association. It's a win-win for Roy. Come in first place, great, but if not, his name will be right up there against that of a marquee player. And of the four (4) attempts above, Roy would not actually be playing at a Bill-vs-Steve DK challenge, but he surely would have been present to include in that ridiculous legal missive the part about declaring Steve a "champion".

So, let's recap...Roy can't beat Tony at TGTS, then he invents this "100 rounds" routine claiming that it is a better show of skill than a full game (see his other website to read this one), and NOW he wants to play at marathon settings (not even TGTS or 100 waves) to see who loses the least cities by wave 100. Laughable. If this event takes place and Tony were to beat him yet again, what's next...playing with just the side bases active ?

Amusingly, after years of touting his alleged 1.695M as the greatest score of all time, he NOW says on the AGN show that at TGTS, "there is no difference between a score of 1M to 2M" as it is "nothing more than luck". Note the quote marks as you can hear this for yourself if you download and listen to the AGN show. So, Roy's so-called greatest achievement...assuming it was even done (which is the core of the debate)...is now nothing more than luck. Which means, using this train of thought, that Roy's recent claim of an alleged 1.8M score..which he still has yet to present on videotape...must be an even luckier achievement than his alleged 1.695M score !!

That also means that Tony must be the luckiest MC player alive, according to Roy's logic. So if this is just a matter of luck, why the big stink over now 25+ years ?

Roy believes that if Guinness accepts this "showdown" then he will make it into the next Guinness book. In fact, he says he wanted an April date because HE wants to get into the Guinness book. Apparently the Funspot event is not good enough for his majesty...too many mosquitos according to what Roy said on-air. Note that not once did he even consider whether Guinness might even be interested in this. And the fact that he knew the Guinness cutoff date as a matter of fact does imply that he researched this date before the interview and that this hypothetical event was pre-planned by Roy all along. And the way he kept cutting me off to get the compleye so-called challenge to Tony articulated...punctuated with music at it's completion by the AGN staff (listen to it and see for yourself), this also tells me that this was a pre-planned stunt using AGN to get his challenge across.

If this was a TRUE test of who the best player is at these never-contested-before settings, then a TRUE champion would want to also test himself against three of the other top players around, such as John Zabel, Bill Carlton and his friend from Oregon who are close by and could easily attend if asked. Roy is right there and can walk to the event. Tony, on the other hand (if he agrees) would be playing after a near-10 hour flight. Guess who starts with an automatic advantage ? Roy...small wonder there.

Next up...Roy's insistance that he needed to be told the proper settings before coming to FS. He pushed and pushed on the show that he needed to know the settings before showing up. He did this in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Fact is that the whole concept of "Dip Switch 4" being important never was raised once until year 2006 after Tony achieved his score. So what explains his reluctance to play in 2004 and 2005 ? And why is TG responsible for telling him the settings...we don't run the FS event for starters nor have we co-participated since 2002, and Gary Vincent is the FS operations manager and HE should be the one telling Roy. And Randy Lawton, who actually owns the machines, can always change to the proper settings upon request.

However all this is moot, as I explained on the show. TG only tracks ONE (1) setting...and if Roy opts to pass on attending, that's his prerogative.

As for his expecting Tony to fly out to attend his so-called challenge. The game-plan of Roy is to put money into "escrow" with AGN (as if they are a bonafide/licensed escrow service) to give to Tony ONLY IF he arrives AND wins. So...what if Tony shows and there is no MC machine available, of if it breaks down, or if the trackball is less than perfect ? Roy would not be beaten thus would not give out his money. How convenient. Granted, I have my own issues with cash promises which I will at least keep as time goes on, but in this case he is expecting someone to travel probably 6,000 miles on a promise for nothing more than a media circus to put Roy into the spotlight. He just cannot give up his "15 minutes of fame", but in Roy's case he is a legend in his own mind, to quote something that Clint Eastwood said in one of his movies.

Let's see what happens if his so-called "challenge" (i.e. media stunt) is met with an "I cannot attend" from his competitor. The fact that other top players should be included to try their own skills at these challenges aside, let's see what stunt Roy pulls next. And I am pretty sure I know what he will do, too.

Roy's challenge on the show...very reminiscent of the scene in "Rocky V"...there is another "Rocky" movie scene, this one from "Rocky II", which might come into play. In that movie, when Rocky will not accept a rematch with Apollo Creed, Creed's PR filks tell him he has to embarrass Rocky to get him to fight, and he does just that. So let's see if Roy uses any embarrassment tactics as time marches closer to the early-April date. Or let's see if he tries a similiar stunt from his attempt to coerce Bill Mitchell into playing versus Steve Wiebe at DK, that if Bill did not show, Roy would declare Steve the champion. But in this case, since Roy is a would-be participant, I am banking that someone else, possibly the AGN staff, possibly an attending classic arcade gamer who is pro-Roy, might make a similiar announcement.

In any event, time will tell...approximately 60 days or so, in fact.

Well, that's that. The AGN forum had a "No More Me Awesome" thread that was created by their own registered forum participants shortly before the interview, and a thread making critical comments about the results of the show afterwards. The AGN people even created a mock-comic book page poking at Roy, so I think he's wore out his welcome mat there in the eyes of many of their listeners. A few die-hard pro-Roy listeners are still out there, but their views are overwhelmingly in the minority compared to those tired of yet another show devoted to "Missile Command", track balls and dip switch settings. You have to admit, it does get to you after awhile.

I am on record, after Walter voiced his support for such a competition IF it can be arranged AND if both competitors could willfully attend, that if such an event does take place, I would be interested as to the outcome. After all, Walter is fully in control of TG, and if he wants to invest his time and energy into this, who am I to contradict him on the air ? However, I did my best to stress that Tony's acceptance is entirely up to Tony, and no judgment can be made regardless of what he states, assuming he even deigns to respond to such a bold-faced calling out over the public airwaves.

Additionally, I stressed that Guinness is under NO obligations to host such an event in their book pages.  Roy was under the impression that they would, possibly based on prior events, but as Walter definitively stated, the ultimate choice as to their content is up to them and them alone.

However, Roy said at one point in the interview, and this is a close quote but listen yourself to hear the full quote, that when it comes to settings (dips), "it doesn't matter what TG says, it doesn't matter what Guinness says, and of Jesus Christ came down off the cross it doesn't matter what He says" (nice on, Roy...offend all Catholic players, why don't you ?) as to what the proper dips should be (he STILL believed that manual 2 is correct and manual 3 is wrong...call me crazy but revisions tend to become MORE correct in time, not the reverse). So after THIS rant, why would he expect the Guinness people to even give him the time of day seeing how it "doesn't matter" what they say about the settings ?

As for these ficticious videotapes which he has yet to show for fear that they might be used as a training tape or something of that nature, his own other website states that videotapes can be manipulated by the gamer do only live performances should be trusted...SO, this begs to ask (A) why does he even bother to make tapes of himself playing at TGTS (which according to Roy is now nothing more than luck when you pass 1M), and (B) why is he pushing Steve Wiebe's score on tape when tapes can be manipulated according to his own words ? Very inconsistent.

Anyway, back to Roy. It always does seem to go back to Roy, it seems  Roll Eyes

I suggested to Roy that he meet Tony half-way at FS, which he shot down. So, instead of Roy putting several thousand into escrow, he COULD spend far less to fly to FS and play Tony over a 4-day period, BUT, it seems that Roy is troubled by "mosquitos". Good reason for not showing, Roy. If it is such a "mosquito den" at FS, why were you so gung-ho about finding out what the settings were ? WHY would you, then, show up to play with all those nasty mosquitoes around to ruin your time ? Makes no sense. Could it be that "Mr Awesome" is more fearful of a few mosquitos than playing at FS against Tony ? Yeah, that's the reason. As Eric Cartman would say, "WEAK !!".

One of the mentions during the show was that Roy was now 50 years old (probably 51 or 52, but definitely at least 51, I think). I sincerely hope that he will not take the unsportsmanlike route of using his age as a qualifier in case he, at either his so-called "challenge" (if Tony agrees), or at FS (if he can actually show) as a reason why he cannot do better than Tony. That would be pretty lame indeed. And it surely did not stop at FS 76 year old John Lawton from setting world records at "Depth Charge", or 82 year old Doris Self from coming to play "Q*Bert". So please, Roy, let's not make age an issue...ever. We are what we are, gamers from the 1980's growing older every day, and every day that you age, so does Tony, so don't use a second crutch to make a set with the other one you use...that FS and TG do not give you the settings before you come over. Just show up, and do not squander your time giving out literature as you did when you showed in 2003 (the one year I did not show and I thank the good Lord that I had to work that year !!)

I should state at this point that much of what I stated below that relates to the AGN show can be downloaded from their site as per Paul's links, but please listen to the entire interview to catch it in full context. I get on at the 42:00 mark or so on segment "C", with Walter several minutes thereafter.

Robert

Excuse for tuning in, but I feel entitled for some comments after wast...using my time on listening this...

FACT (2) - According to Walter, within the body of the discussion, TGTS for MC was not invented until 1985...so how did Roy play at TGTS in 1984 ?

I might be wrong here, but according to my understanding Walter did say that he can not remember the exact dates several TGTS were invented/effective. Just because it reads at some 85 paper what MC TGTS are, doesn't make it impossible they were adopted earlier. I do agree that this thing might have some relevance, where was it located on AGI tapes?

Also, Walter seemed to agree a lot with Roy's factual statements. Or he didn't remember.

Robert, it's clear you can outwit Roy in a debate, but that really does not prove Roy didn't make his 1,6+M score back then. Even if you do "catch" Roy for a lie, the lie can be seen as desperate measure. What I'm saying is, interrogation method might not be accurate here.
The real proof is Roy playing, which he did at AGI. Also, talk about "85% rule" was not reasonable.

Sorry to say this, but judging from Dwayne's post(moved) at TG forum, I have some doubt towards things he was saying...based on that Walter claims opposite, and the fact that I hadn't heard about these things earlier. Also he clearly seemed to have some beef with Roy.
An old fact, but...When it comes to Chris Ayra, he did several times rock solid claim that Kelly Kobashikawa did at T&F 100m "low 7,30's"...while I claimed I didn't believe it. At Funspot 2000 it seems he showed some pics of Kelly's Hypersports records to other than myself, strange. Later Darren(I think) located Kelly...and Kelly said(through Darren) that hes record was 7,44...not 7,30's. So my conclusion is that either Ayra was not telling the truth, or he didn't remember correctly regardless claiming so multiple times.

So it's Walter's + Roy's words + Roy's skills against words of two players. Walter's recollection was way different. Infact he said he was very excited for Roy's score, exactly opposite these players claim.

TG should keep the score. Although it seems then the problem will still be Roy talking about if the dip should be on or off.
My take on on/off issue is that *off* should be correct in this situations, using the easier settings, once again since we can not tell which settings Roy used.
-----

One more thing: It was a right thing to do that Walter and Robert attended the show.

Quote from: RTM
So, instead of Roy putting several thousand into escrow, he COULD spend far less to fly to FS and play Tony over a 4-day period

Amusingly, Roy is offering $650 into escrow to "cover my expenses" for the challenge in LA. Now, I'm not entirely sure what airlines and hotels Mr Awesome uses, but a rough calculation reveals that $650 will get me to Heathrow Airport and allow me park the car for a few days, buy a Burger King in the terminal, a couple of magazines and packet of cigarettes, and I think I'll be kicked out of the airplane at around Dublin, Ireland before the money runs out. Unless Roy wants me to get a bus and a boat to the West coast of America and sleep on the streets of LA when I get there, in which case we may be OK.

Robert makes some interesting points in his post, and I can't disagree with any of it. The facts remain that I've beaten every one of Roy's scores that he holds up there, not only on tape but live at Funspot also (witnessed by several people including Robert M) - and all the arguments he uses are out of date. So all he has left, is to make up new settings and hope for the best.

Again, everything is on his terms, and he really gave the game away when he said "I want this to be published in the Guinness Book". Furthermore, the challenge as sent to me by email states:

Quote from: Mr Awesome
BEFORE competition begins Temple will sign a stipulation that the result should be published by the Guinness Book WRs UK.

Don't you just love it when people call you by your surname? It's really endearing. If this was about friendly rivalry between two players (Perry Rogers and Gary Whelan spring to mind) I'd be there like a shot at my own expense. But this is like a business transaction. This is about Roy wanting to be in the limelight.

Does anyone seriously think I'm going to fly half way round the world potentially at my own expense, to meet up with a guy who dresses up like a parking attendant, to play a videogame on settings that don't relate in any way to the world record that I hold? Settings that no-one apart from the challenger even formally recognises?

He knows the score to beat to be tournament settings champion. He now has confirmation of the DIP settings he should be playing on. He has a machine to play on. All he has to do is "get lucky" as he puts it, and beat my record - and believe me when I say I will be the first to congratulate him. I gave him this feedback on the day I beat his score and wished him luck.

But for now, I owe Roy Shildt nothing. As much as I'd love to "get it on" with a great MC player, I have far far better things to do with my time and money than to support his ego and this self-created media circus. Sorry if that disappoints anyone.

Be prepared for the response of "no show!" and cries of lack of sportsmanship from Mr Shildt.

If anyone can see something in this challenge that I'm missing, then please let me know.

I listened to Rantamania and I have some issues with the challenge.  I could understand having the competition between Roy "LET ME FINISH" Shildt and Tony Temple if the game was to be played on tournament settings since they are supposed to be the best players at those settings, but it's not.  The game is to be played on marathon settings, so why is the competition only between
Tony Temple and Roy Shildt??  Currently Bill Carlton is probably the premier marathon Missile Command player since he has been trying to beat the current marathon worlds record for some time.  If this contest is to "find the best Missile Command Player" why wouldn't Bill Carlton get invited?  As far as that goes, there are other current Missile Command players that probably have the skill set to compete in this concocted challenge and possibly win.  This is just an example of Roy "I'M NOT FINISHED YET" Shildt not being able to beat Tony Temple's tournament score and trying to come up with some other challenge so he can say that he can beat Tony Temple.  I'm sure if Roy Shildt were to lose against Tony Temple in the "Missile Command defend cities challenge", within a month there would be a "use the least amount of missiles challenge" followed by the "Play the game one handed challenge".

Another problem with the challenge is the Missile Command is random in nature and given only a couple of games played there is a good chance that one player will get a better assortment of waves to defend against than the other.  The only way to truly tell who is the better "quality" player is to play at least 100 games and to average those scores and compare them, so as to minimize random chance.  But that would require that someone knows something about probability and statistics.

Hello fellow gamers:

I like "Atariman's" description of the AGN show...their recent blog on Roy says it all. I'm surprised at myself that while doing the interview in the latter half that I did not have the presence of mind to ask the moderator "whatever happened to what you said at the beginning about no yelling ?" but I simply did not think of doing so.

Anyway, that blog is destined to be a classic...definitely the thing that someone should send a jpeg of to "Cafe Press" and make a T-Shirt of to wear to Funspot IX !!

I am glad that Tony himself responded on this "challenge". My own take of what might happen, or Tony's take, may very well come true. Only time will tell.

As for Atariman's statement that other high-calibre players should also participate, or a larger array of performances undertaken, that makes sense. As a former referee, the world record holder on a particular title, to me, is the one with the highest points in light of all other submissions over time. The "greatest" player of all time on a title, that is much harder to quantify.

RTM you said "The "greatest" player of all time" which is not what is being looked for.  What is being looked for is the "highest quality of play!!"  whatever the that means.  Maybe I don't understand what the "quality control standard" means either.  In the 80's the highest score was the best, not the player that played a better game, or saves the most cities.  Are we going to say that a better perfect PacMan is the person the moves the joystick less??  This is just a case of a player unable to beat the current high score to come up with a way to try to recoup his past glory.  It's just VERY sad.

Hi Atariman:

Sorry I took so long to respond...I had other matters to attend to that required my undivided attention.

A few things on the outcome of the interview and the so-called "Challenge".

-> As you say, this is a test of "Quality of gameplay" versus "Highest Score". In a nutshell, TG as well as the people at Guinness track only tangible outcomes. For example, in the world of track and field, the 19.92 second 200M by Michael Johnson, which I saw that day on TV, featured the best start that I had ever seen performed by a runner. He took off with textbook perfection, yet it is the 19.92 time that made it into the Guinness sports history records, not the high quality of his start.

-> The concept of "highest quality of gameplay" is also debatable. Just what exactly constitutes that ? In my opinion, and I can see where this one was going in the interview, someone feels that for a limited duration, a test of least cities lost will do just that. Well, the same can be said for ANY game, for that matter, whether it is lives, cities, cars, ships, etc. However, let's take a game like "Star Wars", which I know a little something about.

Which is a "higher quality of gameplay" here...lasting to wave 50 and using the force in every wave at TGTS, or lasting to wave 100 and not using the force at all ?

Bottom line is this..."quality" in a game with marathon potential is best defined by TGTS. Anything else is just a subset of distinction.

Take Abdner and "Robotron" at TGTS. Word is that when he hit his world record score, he was at approx 935-938K on his THIRD (3RD) man, and then finished with maybe 10K more afterwards on his next two lives. However, in the world of competetive gaming, if Abdner, or someone else, achieves a score of 950K and averages nearly 200K per man, or whatever the breakdown may be, the 950K will eclipse the previous score, regardless of the amazing head-start that Abdner had that game.

-> All this said, I have to stress the word "challenge"...Roy issued the world champion a challenge to play at non-traditional settings and criteria. Bottom line is, for what purpose ? And I have an answer for that as well.

Ever see "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey" when the main characters battle "Death" at a board game where the stakes were that if they won, they regained their lives, and if not...then back to the "H" place. Anyway, they beat "Death", and he says "best 2 out of 3", and the running gag is that no matter what the challenge..."Battleship", "Clue", "Electronic Football" or the final challenge of "Twister", they prevailed.

Here, the characters were forced into doing so as the stakes were high (in the movie's plot, of course). In the REAL world, the stakes are not high, and Tony has nothing to prove. But, he is dealing with his own "Death" in the form of, well, we know who I am referring to here. Faced with one defeat, and already beaten at another set of criteria (the so-called 100-wave record which only one person bothers to pay attention to), a third challenge was issued. Again, in the real world, the stakes are not high, and the challenged individual has nothing to prove.

-> It is fitting to end my reply with a paraphrase from one of my AGN forum statements...after telling his family, friends and neighbords the story (legend ?) for years and years , at least Al Bundy DID score 4 touchdowns in a single game.

Did anyone hear Roy on Allgames radio with Todd Rogers last night?

He now says that he's not going to compete on Missile Command on the settings confirmed by Twin Galaxies, as he sees it as being "disrespectful" to the game.

Robert, your post could not be more accurate....

To hell with it....at this stage 'Monty Python Settings' should be invoked. Chop an arm or a leg off each. Then we'll see who is boss.
Mega-sigh....

He now says that he's not going to compete on Missile Command on the settings confirmed by Twin Galaxies, as he sees it as being "disrespectful" to the game.

After hearing the AllGames broadcast I didn't think that Roy understood the concept of "disrespect".

Hello fellow gamers:

On a semi-serious note I will respond to recent events.

Todd and I spoke last evening about the AGN interview the other evening. He said that what was supposed to be an interview about Todd somehow morphed into a discussion about you-know-who. No, not "Voldemort", but at least that particular you-know-who did not scream "Let Me Finish !!" at Harry Potter, although (like the other you-know-who) he did threaten to snuff someone. I've said it before, and I will say it again, somehow everything ends up being about Roy...sooner or later.

As for the comment by Roy that playing at TGTS will "disrespect" the game...HAH !!

Hello fellow gamers:

I just spent the past two (2) hours listening to the recent radio broadcast along with Todd and we traded comments. Here are a few that came to immediate mind...

1st - ever see that "South Park" episode where they had a counter of how many times a certain word was said over the course of the episode ? I think that the AGN people should have such a counter every time that either "Missile Command", "Dip Switch" or "King of Kong" is said. And that reminds me...

2nd - someone is constantly talking about how Bill Mitchell is always "paying" people to say or do things. I am wondering how much Roy was possibly paid to mention this movie over and over...and over...again, ad nauseum.

3rd - WHY, after most of the AGN forum readers stated in their own forums "No More Mr A..." I pointedly refuse to say or type out that name...do they bother to give him even more airtime ? And on that note,

4th - he is planning on discussing about his marathon score...this is the one where time and time again he was unable to answer pointed questions about his game. As is the case with you-know-who, give him enough time and he will concoct a story. When we last spoke, he had no recollection of (A) how long his game took, (B) what happens at wave 255/256, meaning someone who claimed a score of 60M failed to remember this all-important aspect of the game which would have been encountered anywhere between 23-28 times (rough estimate), and (C) he had NO viable, stated or recollected strategy that he could even mention. I am willing to bet that when they give him even 10 more minutes he will address these points in seemingly great detail. What a crock.

5th - the BEST part was the total BS that he layed out when he stated that in 2005 for the CGE that he wanted to pay to fly out Mark Longridge, a TG referee, to witness him play MC at the CGE. TWO (2) major problems here...(A) Mark left TG as a formal referee a few years back and I assumed the MAME platform at the time, and since then only spoke with mark all of three (3) times to discuss the MAME transition of stewardship, then the Galaxian and Joust records, and finally just to chew the fat, and the latter two conversations were via E-MAIL. So how did I ever speak with Mark about the CGE ? That leaves (B), Roy's statement itself. How easy to say that I said something to Mark when NEITHER of us can refute these so-called "facts". More typical BS from you-know-who.

6th - Towards the end of the interview you would swear that he was a paid-spokesperson for one of the films that he kept mentioning. Needless to say he worked in how the film illustrates TG's agenda and so forth. This film, of course, prominently features a one-sided version of score attempts on "Donkey Kong" as chronicled by STeve Wiebe and you-know-who, from what I have been told, and this is regardless that Bill Mitchell is included in this film.

Last but not least, you-know-who kept on pushing and pushing the "why" behind the fact that TG did not give any prominent attention on it's site to the film title that he was promoting, trying to force Todd into making a public statement. And of course Scott Rubin is just sitting back and letting Roy ("LET ME FINISH !!") have his uninterrupted say in the matter. Roy knows damn well that Walter and crew MIGHT be in a position where they cannot promote that particular film, and if such is the case, Todd would not be authorized to say so.

However, in you-know-who's mind, to withhold the truth must in fact be a lie, and so his rhetoric continues onward, unchecked.

All I can say is this...if I knew someone that had $100,000 to offer, I would ask them to do exactly what I saw once in a vintage "Twilight Zone" episode...I'd bet Roy $100K that he could not shut his mouth about "Missile Command", "Twin Galaxies", "Bill Mitchell" and video gaming for an entire year. And unlike the character in the episode that accepted the bet, Roy would probably lose.

7th - last but not least, in the interview with Walter, you-know-who stated that in MC at TGTS, scores over 1M are "luck". He stated in the Todd interview that he did not want to waste his time playing video games. However, all that said, he spent the better part of twenty five (25) YEARS pursuing his agenda and rhetoric.

Fellow gamers, the horse has been beaten, pulverized, and ground into powder by now. There is nothing left of the horse to beat, and yet like the Energizer Bunny, someone just keeps on beating. That just said, I could say something clever here about you-know-who, but decorum prevents me from doing so. Let's just hope that this saga comes to an end. However I don't think it will, not (at least) until someone presses his case to the US Supreme Court. Yeah, they will surely have time for this.

let's take a game like "Star Wars", which I know a little something about.

Which is a "higher quality of gameplay" here...lasting to wave 50 and using the force in every wave at TGTS, or lasting to wave 100 and not using the force at all ?

50 and using force in every wave.
