Dean Saglio blows away the top Donkey Kong score

Ever since the documentary movie The King of Kong (and beforehand, too), numerous players have topped the long-standing 874,300 1980's Donkey Kong score by Billy Mitchell.  That list included Dean Saglio, who last November on MAME made a superb mark of 1,073,000, the topmost score ever officially achieved.

The arcade record recently increased to 1.06M, and was closing in on Dean's score... until an early morning game on April 19th, 2010, where Dean pushed things past even a rumored high of over 1.12M by Billy, to a colossal MAME result of 1,136,400 points !  Now, the only question is, can someone raise the bar on the arcade platform, to match...

Jeff Peters: Classic Gamer and Producer of Superman
and co-creator of (EGN) Electronic Gaming Monthly:

Quote
Jeff Peters eclectic video game career began in the early eighties, within the peak of the arcade industry. His working experience has had him owning and operating his own arcade. He further went on to co-found a publishing company and created Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine as well as founding a successful graphics design company. Jeff Peters has been in the games industry for many years. He started collecting on coin-op arcade game, and then two and so on. He found he has aptitude for fixing and restoring old game machines. He worked at Sculptured Software while they produced many coin-op conversions for Acclaim. He was also the Director of Development for the ill-fated Beyond Games in Salt Lake city. But even given the many roadblocks presented by the situation there, he was still able to produce Hotwheels for THQ. Currently Jeff works for Electronic Arts in Florida as the producer on SUPERMAN.

I've heard his name before, but as I recall, that particular movie was also a tremendous let-down to me.  The effects were ok, but the writers of the script need a good ass-kicking.

I liked the film okay -- it had its moments -- but the game looks a lot better.   Evil  Superman stories need action, not repeated real estate scams.

Thanks for the topic, Paul.  From all that I know, Jeff is probably the overall best player from the main cag era (the 80's), and Don is the modern-day equivalent.

I'm still trying to get Jeff to come to a cag event...
