First verified Crazy Kong kill screen

Richie Knucklez arcade regular J.J. Cahill of Pittstown, New Jersey became the first known gamer to kill screen Crazy Kong on a real machine, and he did it during the 2010 CAGDC Tournament in front of a crowd of onlookers.  J.J.'s game ended on his last man on the first board of level 22, with a final score of 568,400.

My MAME machine

« on: January 02, 2009, 11:50:43 AM »

Hi all,

On my first 5 attempts or so on playing Dig Dug for an hour, I am around 1.25 mil. I'm rusty for sure and will continue homing some techniques. And if Robotron makes it in the tournament I'm at about 3.8 million.

This is playing on MAME version .81.

Anyone else want to ante up??

Nice scores, Bryan.  I hope some others practice up to get ready for the one hour time limit that the contest has, so that we'll really push the inaugural records on a few titles to the limit !

BTW, the one hour record for Dig Dug is an incredible 1,707,820 points, by Donald Hayes.  He set it at the 2008 edition of the CAGDC Tourney.

I've been leaning towards coming out for the tourney in March. Right now my Dig Dug is at about 300k for the hour, and that's if I pause it for 30 minutes or so.  Grin   My goal is to reach an hour, I would consider that a win.  I'm not sure if anyone was looking forward to being the whipping boy that weekend, you're in for some stiff competition.

You're really serious about making Don play this again and again... Grin  Nice score, Ken.

Kick-ass score, Ken !  I forgot about this thread, too.  Well, if you wanna record a run like this to disk and submit it to me at the NWP&GS, please do so.  You can follow TG recording conventions, as far as showing the board / dips after play, and (if you can, tho it's not essential) include the CP in the frame, along with the entire screen (of course).

That's some kind of point pressing, and you are tops on Dig Dug at this point.  I have a feeling Don is itching to play at FS, if only to get his monicker off your shirt !  BTW, that's a kick-ass piece of artwork:

For those that might not recognize all the 'players'; Ken is Dig Dug, Don is the Pooka, Dwayne is the Fygar, and Uncle Walter is watching at the top !

I think that if you bring some of those shirts, Ken, they'll sell at the NW show.  I take an adult medium or large (depends on the manufacturer), BTW, and will buy one if you have it.

It's all about the BLING LOL... I'll make sure and have a few at the show. If anyone wants to "pre order" one let me know. They'l run about $15. (I'm not mass producing them so there is no real price break to me on the goods) and I'll sign it if you want me too...
