I'm in! This is one that is nearly impossible for me to miss. So add me to the definite list...looking forward to registering.

Looking forward to my first CAGDC tourney. We should have a JFK van or something.
Thanks for being the first to register, Graham ! And, I've got you down on the
tourney page game table as picking
Pole Position, and I've listed you on the
attendee info thread as desiring a ride.
PM me the details on the day you want to leave, and your 'borough' location in NYC...
Thief....................
Maybe Zman will come and destroy his record
actually likely there are 1 hour timed games again...but Mike could easily set WR level mark for 1 hour of play given his extreme juking and konging on that game.
Yep, the tourney rules are the same as always - a one hour time limit. Actually, I noted that in my post, two above yours, Rick ! I'm gonna cure your skim-reader-itis one day !

Speaking of tourney rules...
Are the Robotron and Millipede going to set to 5 men only?
The Karate Champ threshold score seems a little high.
Unless I've missed them, it would be useful to know the settings on these machines Mark.
I'd also suggest 20k on Missile Command as a more realistic minimum score.
I didn't note the settings on the tourney page originally, but that's now corrected ! Thanks for bringing up this point, Tony !
OK - TG likes to limit play time with settings changes, but problems arise from that, so I decided long ago to limit the time with... a time limit !!

Thus, all games (like in
all CAGDC events, and on
all CAGDC specific scoreboard marks) are at the factory default settings. And, I personally check every single tourney game to confirm this. No more wondering, twenty years later, what happened...

I guess it's been long enough that you forgot about the factory settings in my tournaments, Bryan. And, of course there will be no
TGTS settings in place for a
CAGDC event !

It will be great to have you out for the event again, now that the travel distance is back to a low amount for you !

As far as the threshold scores, I've taken your advice on MC, Tony (and Rick), and also yours on KC, Bryan. I also changed Millipede to 50K, Rick, since others expressed similar concerns. I personally think 50K is very easy, but maybe everyone's trak-ball skillz aren't the best. But, I do think Paperboy is no biggie, as they can play Hard Way for 3x points. Just finishing one day is almost enough, and newbies should be able to do it after 5 plays.
Well, thanks for the input you guys, and from others (both in this thread, and over the phone). We'll be tweaking the thresholds more as time goes on, but they should be pretty much set in the next couple of weeks. Keep in mind (as I think someone noticed) that I've made the threshold scores more difficult than in the past. The reason is that we'll be busier than ever this year, because of increased attendance, and so to avoid refs being so busy that we're unable to keep up with writing down scores, I raised the 'expectations' for this event a bit...
Doesn't this arcade also have Tempest? The high score list from Richie Knucklez' web site lists a score for that game.
Yep - Richie has a
Tempest, Richard, as he chimed in on. It was my decision to put it out of consideration, at least as far as the initial
potential game list goes. It may, however, be a possible 'Mystery Title' that gets put in come tourney time.
The reason I don't like it as a tourney game is that (of course) if it's an early ROM, there's tons of 'cheats' that can be done. And, even if it's not, this is going to be the busiest event ever (triple+ the number of entrants), and I sure don't want to have to look out for people 'accidentally' continuing their (or another gamer's) high-level game. Just an FYI, also - I know of one gamer who (according to a trusted TG ref who confided with me) improperly continued the game at the 2002 event. Yep - they cheated... Fortunately, it's no one who has attended my events.

I see that you suggest players to play as the "2nd" player. If this is the case the players should get the extra couple of seconds per man to make up for the killing of player 1 (if the couple or few seconds mean anything), otherwise the second player would be playing for less than 1 hr.
True, Jimmy, but it's one of those things that just has to be dealt with, as is. And, everyone who does it will get the same amount of time (one hour, and not a deci-second more

), so they're on the same playing field... If I 'guessed' as to the extra seconds that are lost, it might be inaccurate, plus I'd have to remember to time the extra seconds (easily forgotten when I'm not doing the extra time for the other games).
OK - final thots, for now. Pat Laffaye has also signed up for the event (in addition to Graham), and Donald Hayes will be signing up this week. In New Jersey, Richie had a blizzard Friday, so his 'group' didn't get a chance to sign up. When they do next Friday, I expect a 'flood' of entrants ! In any case, keep the sign-ups coming in from our end, and don't forget to hurry, as I'll be mailing out an e-mail announcement today to my entire address list, so the 'free game choice' spots will be gone in a day or two.
Sign up now to get in on the 'early bird' special, and save $10 (from getting the free choice !). Thanks, everybody !
