We are very pleased to officially announce the dates for this year's CAX show: 8/11 & 8/12.

We will be meeting very soon to start lining up this year's seminars, guest speakers, and other arcade-themed events that make the show so much fun each year for our attendees. We already have in the works some new and unique events that we hope to finalize soon. Expect more announcements on that front in the near future certainly (or join our mailing list at http://www.caextreme.org Smile ).

Start making your plans, requesting time off of work, making reservations by planes, trains, or automobiles to come out and join us for another crazy, arcade-filled weekend!

Jon and the CA Extreme Team

p.s. As always, let me know if you're at all interested in bringing games and/or volunteering to help us out. Both are most welcome (and can be worth free admission  Grin )! If you've never brought games before, give it a try this year...it can be a bit of work, but you'll have a great time, too!

Thanks, as always, for keeping us up-to-date, JK !  I will again this year be recruiting people to serve on the 'Tips and Tricks' panel, where classic arcade players talk about play on their favorite game title.

So far, I've got interest from Franz Lanzinger, Jason Spindler, and possibly Joe LeVan, if he makes it out this year.  But, the more, the merrier - let me know if you're interested, plus what game you'd like to speak on.  Of course, you need to be an expert at the title, plus have an 80%+ chance of making the event this year.  Note that, as a great perk, anyone who speaks on the panel will receive free admission, which is a $50 savings for the weekend.

If you've never been out to the event (or to the San Fran / San Jose area), you're missing out.  Trust me - California is  the promised land, and this show is incredible, with all the rare (and, just the sheer total number) of titles.  Paul Dean will also likely be holding another contest this year, with probable generous money prizes (fill in any details in this thread, Paul).  And, that's not even mentioning all of the interesting side events, like the talks and seminars regarding arcade-related subjects.  Well, come out and see for yourself - you won't be disappointed !

California Extreme:

A recap of the California Extreme (CAX) 2006 Pac-Mania/Spy Hunter Coin Operated Video Game Contest:

California Extreme 2006 Spy Hunter/Pacmania Contest Results:

I want to thank each and every player for entering last years July 8, 2006 CAX 2006
Pac-Mania/Spy Hunter Coin Operated Video Game High Score Contest, because without
the players there is no contest and no competition to drive a player to do better than
they thought they could do.

The winner of the Pac-Mania contest was Tongki Linderman (Jimmy) with a
CAX Pac-Mania high score of 3,733,860 on July 8, 2006. A near perfect pattern
For a score that nobody could believe, unless they had actually seen it!

The winner of the Spy Hunter contest was none other than (CAX) organizer,
Jon Koolpe (Jonathan Koolpe) with a final Spy Hunter score of 295,875 points.

Both players received $50.00 for their first place efforts, in which a total of
$200.00 in contest monies were given out.

Thank you again for everyone’s efforts in making the 2006 CAX High Score Video Game Challenge a
success and hopefully we can do the same for the 2007 CAX Event. I will keep you posted as I have
bought many different classic games since then that are in various stages of refurbishment at this time
and hope to bring some great games to you for another year of great competition at California Extreme 2007.
