Fifth annual edition of the CAGDC Tourney rocked !

All attendees of the big year 5 edition of the Classic Arcade Gaming (dot com) Tournament agreed that this was the biggest and best one yet !  A record number of entrants and a record prize purse was just the beginning; records galore were set, and celebrities reigned !

Thanks go out to everyone that attended the event, held at Richie Knucklez' Arcade in March 2010.  And, a huge congratulations goes out to the four-peat winner, Donald Hayes !

I'm not much for the social websites out there.  Well, actually, as some of you know, I have a 'personal' webpage, and it was up years and years before MySpace, FaceBook, etc., but it only covers the basics.  Also, I don't blog, and I (personally) don't have any use for Twitter, either.  I mean, who wants to know that I took a trip to the grocery store today, or even something less mundane, like that I took a trip to the beach ?  Of course, many find Twitter useful for 'following' others (say, a relative or friend), more than for posting their own life events.

Well, no disrespect to those who find these services useful.  But, I've always been pragmatic, and the really useful aspect to one of the websites above, Twitter, is instant updates for people.  As great as e-mail and the forums are, sometimes it's not easy to contact the right people quickly, or people may not see a post on the forums.  So, I've joined Twitter, under username CAGDC (surprise, surprise !), and I'll be occasionally sending tweets (as messages sent via the service are called) that are of big cag importance.  And, don't worry - I mean occasionally, since overdoing it is a no-no.  Right now, I estimate I'll average about 3 to 5 a month (or, about one a week, at most).

Of course, that depends on the news - if someone tops 1M on Ms. Pac and 1.1M on DK the same day, there will be multiple tweets in a short time frame !  But, of course, that'll be the exception to the rule.

As far as events that will trigger a tweet, as you can imagine, major cag news (like the above examples) is one, and big CAGDC news (like an upcoming event that's been finalized) is another.  Plus, very occasionally, I'll probably announce things like new DVD releases.

In case you miss a tweet, or want more details on it, I will strive to have the scoop, with details, up within a short time frame on this website's Twitter page.  It will serve as a repository for all tweets, and give additional details and provide links, as appropriate.  And, as always, more information will be on the CAGDC forums.

Well, be sure to 'follow' me if you want to be informed about cag, and also, please help me by making me first (even before posting about it !) to know big news that you hear about.  Send me an e-mail, or phone me, if you make a world record on a major title, or hear about big cag happenings.  Thanks, and I look forward to tweeting you all !

Thanks, John (and Paul) for joining.  Things have been light lately, but I'll be announcing when the CAGDC Tourney is set (via contract), and other 'firsts', even before the forums announcement.

So, forums members who aren't 'on board' yet... what are you waiting for ??!!  Sign up, and 'follow' me, as noted in my first post, at top !  Police Wink
