John McAllister tops Asteroids WR set in 1982

'New' gaming sensation John McAllister has added another score to his stable of incredible world records, all made in just over a year.  This time it's an ultra-marathon that spanned almost 58 hours, and garnered him the Asteroids record, breaking the long-standing score of 41,336,440 points set by the late Scott Safran on November 13, 1982.

In a world-exclusive for CAGDC, the game details are that John's (unofficial) final score was 41,838,740 points, and his game lasted 57:46:11 H:M:S, ending at 10:18 PM PT on Monday, April 5, 2010.  This terrific effort is the longest marathon done since 1985, and is also the longest recorded (to media) marathon in the history of our hobby.  Terrific job, John, and good luck adding to your collection of records in the future !

Just a 'bump' to bring attention to this thread.  I've updated things, as of early Sunday, the 20th.  I expect Ben Falls and Graham Ogilvie to sign up today, so there's two more attendees to expect next Saturday.

I removed myself and Donald Hayes from needing room sharing, as that's been arranged for us, and added Jerry Casey, who likely will need a room on Saturday night, if anyone will still be in the area.  PM him at the link on his name, above.

I also removed Jimmy needing a ride to and from the event, as that's been arranged.

Anyone still needing a room, or a ride, PM me, or forever hold your peace !  And, I'll see you all there in less than a week, and I'll have plenty of cash, ready to hand out !!  Let the scores fall !
