Oh, so you're a latecomer to saving Olive Oyl on the arcade platform?

Shame shame,  ;)  But yeah, I had a Colecovision also, and at one time they also had plans to make Gorf and Wizard Of Wor for Colecovision.

I remember seeing an old 80's TV commercial with John Madden or George Plympton promoting the games for Atari. There was a note on the bottom of the screen saying "soon good for Colecovision," but they never came to the system  :(

This Friday I have a bunch of folks coming to the arcade I believe.  My buddy Mark from Toronto who is flying in just to check out the arcade.  He is a good Battlezone, Spy Hunter and Popeye player IIRC.

I'm hoping to make it too on my way out to Funspot :)

Hey, Zack-O and Charlie R!  Good to be onboard.

After thinking about it, I figured that Mark and Richie needed someone to help keep you young un's in line, so here's good old Uncle Shawn, with his bad movies, his trivia, and his stories of the old days before you guys were born (y' know, when we played Pacman in covered wagons, lol)  ;)

I'll see you guys at Richie's soon! \m/ >:D\m/

A great place? That's an understatement, lol  ;D

Richie bends over backwards to make everyone feel at home.  He always has something to do or something to fix sometimes, but no matter how bad it might get sometimes, he never loses his cool and he never loses sight of the fact that his customers are the reason for his success. Once you're in with Richie, it's a lifetime title, and an honor.  By and large you will never find a friendlier, more knowledgeable, or harder working guy.   You'll like Richie, I guarantee it.
Hope to see you in 2010!

Once you're in with Richie, it's a lifetime title, and an honor.  By and large you will never find a friendlier, more knowledgeable, or harder working guy.

I second, third, and fourth that !!  Let me tell you guys, I've collaborated with a lot of people, on different projects, endeavors, and business arrangements, over the years.  Richie is the best person I've worked with, hands down, and is not only reasonable and more than fair, but his positive attitude (I have to work harder myself to improve on this, at times), patience, and willingness to work with all people, is not only superior to most people's, but his hard work ethic gets the job done quickly, every time (again, there's something I have to improve upon... namely, my occasional procrastination).

Well, when you guys stop in, you'll see what a great guy Mr. Knucklez is.  So, make plans now for the huge 5th edition of the annual CAGDC Tourney.  It's set for the long weekend of March 19 - 21, with the likelihood of an additional (optional) day (the 18th), where gamers can see marathoners begin their quest for 3 or 4+ days of play (and $5,000 or $10,000 !!), and also get in extra practice for the tourney.  The 18th is not set, but is likely, and Richie and I will be hammering the details out soon.

Well, come then, or come out sooner, but get out to Richie's, and see what an arcade done right, and run right, is like !

Gotta go' with Mark on this one:

I think a big deal of Richie's attitude comes from the fact that he was once in the entertainment industry,  (as head of Knuckle Sandwich) and he knows what it's like to roll with the punches and face adversity.

After the things he's seen in the industry (and been either benefactor or victim to at one time) it takes a lot to upset him because he's dealt with a lot of BS.

Like Mark, I myself admit that I am trying to be a bit better in the areas he described, but all masterpieces weren't built in a day....in fact, it took about a year to make me..but then again, my green pallor, flat head, and neckbolts should have told you that I was a unique guy to begin with!   :P ;)

I started playing Gorf tonight at Richie's after I did not particularly care for the comments by "Gorf Champion" on klov within the new DK rules thread.  This was my way of silently protesting his comments.  I've played about 10 games of it in my lifetime as I don't care for the game but the comments he made so irked me that I decided to begin a quest to beat his world record.  I got 180k today.    Maybe I'll get bored and quit since the game is effing terrible, but at least for the next few visits at Richie's I'm going to play it competitively in protest of the negative comments made about TG and their team who have all been great to me.

Richie is an awesome guy and his band Knuckle Sandwich was a staple of the late 90's early 2000's NJ HxC punk rock scene.

When my friends and I met him at Funspot XI we realized that we actually played a show that he put on back in the day.

He even remembered the name of my old band and remembered the show!

Since then I always try to be there on friday.

He's like an uncle or an older brother that I never had and he takes great care of his players.

It's like I can't say enough good things about the guy.

The thing about Gorf is that it never seems to get any harder..it gets to that peak level of difficulty and stays there. What makes it hard, is the visual distractions.  Like in the Galaxians level..you pointed out that the field of stars disguises the enemy shots to a degree, and the Galaxians are very fast.

The Space Warp level has the red streaks that extend from the warp zone and that throws you off too. If you stare at it too long and then look away for a second, you can actually make yourself dizzy.  I guess that's the balancing factor for the fairly easy difficulty thruout the game.
