Mark Kiehl takes back Donkey Kong Junior record

On the most contested major classic title of the last few years, Mark Kiehl has once again set a new world record, beating the previous Donkey Kong Junior top score by Steve Wiebe.  Mark made an incredible 1,253,000 points on March 4, 2010, eclipsing Steve's former record of 1,190,400, set just 3 weeks earlier.

The record has changed hands multiple times recently, starting in August 2008 when Ike Hall topped both one million points, and Billy Mitchell's long-standing score from the 80's.  Mark's current score is the second time he's beaten the world record, and it's also the fifth time a new record has appeared, starting with Ike's triumph two summers ago.

FROG OFF!!!  Sounds cool.  Wish I could attend but Florida is too far away...

It would be cool if they could make something like this a streaming web event!
Where are you getting "Florida" from if i may ask? FunSpot's in New Hampshire...
Streaming it would have been quite cool indeed tho.

Thanks! -- I wish more of you guys could make it up there.  Should be a fun event!   Cool
That it was... altho i thought you guys were kinda "hidden" way over there in that (drafty!) corner! Was still fun to watch tho and Don aaaaaalllmost gotya Pat  Grin
Is there a 'report' anywhere on the Frog-Off? Can't find it... or maybe one of ya was gonna post it in this thread later (don't mean to rush ya Tongue).

This will be our second "Frog-off"  We had one a couple of years ago at Challenge Arcade, but both machines were flaking out and no new WR's.   Undecided
Couple of years ago Pat? It was September 2008  Roll Eyes
Time does fly tho that's for sure...
That was quite a weeeiiiiiiird power problem messing up those machines wasn't it. Some force had it in for the frogs that weekend...

"Florida is too far away" - Meaning that I live in Florida.  I drove to Funspot in 2000.  Believe me, it's far away!

And I thought driving 1000 miles was bad enough! With a few small detours on the way home, my trip gauge read 999.8 when I pulled into my driveway last weekend. Looks like you have nearly 1500 miles from Florida.

Oh wow, i thought you lived somewhere in a central (but east-ish) state, sry man.
Yeah that's pretty far to drive! But surely there are some cheap flights available or something?  Smirk

Holy crap Fred, i thought you were 'only' about 650 miles away... coulda sworn you said the trip took you 10 hrs once... which would now put your average speed at 100 miles an hour lol  Evil

That was probably when I went to World Record Weekend at Challenge Arcade last year. That's about the right distance/time for Wyomissing/Reading PA.
