Mark Kiehl takes back Donkey Kong Junior record

On the most contested major classic title of the last few years, Mark Kiehl has once again set a new world record, beating the previous Donkey Kong Junior top score by Steve Wiebe.  Mark made an incredible 1,253,000 points on March 4, 2010, eclipsing Steve's former record of 1,190,400, set just 3 weeks earlier.

The record has changed hands multiple times recently, starting in August 2008 when Ike Hall topped both one million points, and Billy Mitchell's long-standing score from the 80's.  Mark's current score is the second time he's beaten the world record, and it's also the fifth time a new record has appeared, starting with Ike's triumph two summers ago.

Pretty cool looking multi-game cabinet from Namco..
wouldn't mind having one...

This new release will feature twelve Namco classics: Pac-Man, Galaga, Pac-Mania, Galaxian, Rally X, Mappy, Dig Dug, Xevious, Bosconian, Galaga ’88, Rolling Thunder, and Dragon Spirit. For a display it will likely use an LCD monitor, like the 25th anniversary cabinets did. There is no release date or price listed for the unit at this time but it will certainly be released before the end of the year.

I wonder why they keep putting horizontal games on these things (like the DK/DK Jr/Mario Bros multi)...Rolling Thunder is gonna look weird. Rally-X looks weird on those 48-in-1's where they've reoriented it to be vertical.

To each their own but I'd rather take a gutted arcade cabinet and MAME it like I did with my Make Trax cabinet.
