So everyone will have the ability to refer back to news items that are no longer part of the rotation that appears at the top of every forums page, I've created a complete archive in this post.  As items are taken out of rotation (usually because they are either no longer current enough to stay up, or because a record score noted has been topped, and the piece no longer applies), they'll be added in here.

So... below is a collection of all previous news items that have been featured on the CAGDC forums:

Removed on ??? (reason: no longer current enough):

Big congrats to Bryan Wagner for his ingenious method of setting simultaneous world records, at Funspot 8.

Congratulations go to Robert Griffin for his incredible accomplishment of making both the marathon, and 5-man, wr's on Joust 2, at Funspot 8.

Removed on 11-28-2008 (reason: no longer current enough):

David Palmer 'Strikes Back' with two new world records !  Get all the details here.

Thanks for everyone's interest in the Classic Arcade Gaming (dot com)'s 2006 bounties !  Look for more in the early part of 2009 !!

Congratulations to Abdner Ashman on his incredible 302,550 world record one-hour time limit score on Ms. Pac-Man at the 2007 CAGDC Tourney.

Major congratulations must go out to Jimmy Linderman, for his tour-de-force performances on Mr. Do!, Q*bert, and other titles, at the 2007 CAGDC Tournament.

Major props to Brian Kuh, for setting seventeen world records in one day, at Funspot 9.

Removed on 01-24-2009 (reason: no longer current enough):

'Great job' goes out to both Steve Wiebe, and Billy Mitchell, for their certified 1 million point plus world record marks, each set last year on Donkey Kong.  Billy is currently in the lead, with Steve trying hard to reclaim the record...   -  MDA, Spring 2008

Removed on 04-04-2009 (reason: no longer current enough):

Thanks to everyone that attended the third annual CAGDC Tournament event, which was held at Pro Putt Family Fun Center in March 2008.  A big congratulations goes out to our first repeat winner, Donald Hayes !   -  MDA, Spring 2008

Les Martin humbles Super Pac-Man at Funspot X

Congratulations to Les Martin on his smack-down performance on Super Pac-Man at Funspot 10.  He made an incredible 5,318,800 points, with 2.2M being done with his first man!

- MDA, Summer 2008

Donkey Kong Junior sees first official million point game

Congratulations to Ike Hall for his record smashing TGTS score of 1,033,000 on Donkey Kong Junior, the first one ever verified over 1 million, in August 2008, eclipsing Billy Mitchell's previous record of 957,300.

- CM, Fall 2008

Removed on 02-03-2010 (reason: new record nullified story):

Costanza Frogger record falls

With just the right amount of grease on the joystick, Donald Hayes has eclipsed George Costanza's fictional, and once thought impossible to reach, Frogger record of 860,630 from a 1998 Seinfeld episode.  Don scored an amazing 881,150 points using MAME on his PC.  Will history's first Frogger rollover at 1 million be far behind ??

- CM, Winter 2008/2009

Wiebe gets another world record !

Big congrats go to Steve Wiebe for his latest world record - a 1,139,800 point triumph on Donkey Kong Junior, set in March, 2009.  The previous record was Ike Hall's score of 1,033,000.

- MDA, Fall 2009

Congratulations to Mark Kiehl of Enid, Oklahoma for setting a new world record score of 1,147,800 on Donkey Kong Junior in September 2009.  This race has heated up in the last 18 months, with the record changing hands three times after Billy Mitchell's verified record score of 957,300 stood for 25 years.  The previous record was Steve Wiebe's score of 1,139,800.

Mark Kiehl Steve Wiebe snatches away
the Donkey Kong Junior crown

Congratulations to Mark Kiehl Steve Wiebe of Enid, Oklahoma Redmond, Washington for setting a new world record score of 1,147,800 1,190,400 on Donkey Kong Junior in September 2009 on February 11, 2010.  This race has heated up in the last 18 months, with the record changing hands three four times after Billy Mitchell's verified record score of 957,300 stood for 25 years.  The previous record was Steve Wiebe's Mark Kiehl's score of 1,139,800 1,147,800.

No offense to Mark Kiehl is intended (he even OK'ed this, BTW).  This is our way of poking fun at ourselves for being so slow with some news items.  We will try to get future announcements up within 5 days or so rather than 5 months.  Smile

26-year-old Gorf record falls

One of the longest-lasting cag records on the books, Todd Rogers' 3-ship score of 653,990 on Gorf was so far ahead of the competition that many wondered if it was unbeatable... until January 31, 2009, when John McCann of Altura, MN clocked a 943,580, including over 733,000 on his first ship!  John also took the #1 spot on the 6-ship variation in October 2008.

- Chris M., Spring 2009

D2K record is TKO'd by Ben Falls

Almost one year ago, Scott Kessler set a WR score on D2K: Jumpman Returns that seemed breathlessly high.  It remained untouchable until March 2009, when Ben Falls officially became the first person to top 300K with a 301,800.  Just a few days later he upped that to an incredible 361,300, and now 400K is in his sights!  Several players have broken through on this title recently and scores are being pushed dramatically higher by top competitors.

- Chris M., Spring 2009

Les Martin smacks Super Pac, again...

Congratulations go out once more, to Les Martin, for his second dominant public performance in a row on Super Pac-Man.  He made an incredible 5,318,800 points at Funspot 10, in 2008, and then followed up at FS 11 with 7,271,080 !  He played an amazing 634 stages during the 10 hour, 5 minute performance.  Way to go, Les, and you dominate this title, like few others do, on a classic arcade game.
