Phil Younger: Berzerk - Slow Bullets - World Record 304,570 points

Current TG Leaderboard Scores for Phil Younger:
http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=22&p=30240

On August 12, 2007 Phil Younger played for several hours on Berzerk
Slow Bullets for a new World Record of 304,570 points. Walter Day of
Twin Galaxies was able to watch and verify this score which will be
added to the TG World Records Data Base. It is interesting to note
that Phil Younger beat Ron K. Bailey's 25 Year Old Record on his
"First Man" having four more Humanoid lives in storage.

Ron K. Bailey has held the Berzerk Slow Bullets Record of 178,500 since
August 30, 1982 and was recently interviewed in the 2006 Lincoln Ruchti
Documentary "Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade" which followed the lives
of teenage video game superstars who in 1982 came from all over North
America to join Walter Day in a LIFE Magazine feature spread, which recognized
them as video game world champions.

"Jimmy" Tongki Linderman - Mr. Do!  5,500,000 points

Current TG Leaderboard Scores for "Jimmy" Tongki Linderman:
http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=22&p=39129

"Jimmy" Tongki Linderman has a very impressive ability of playing
Pac-Mania and Mr. Do! to an extent that nobody else can do. He easily
beat the competition at the California Extreme 2006 Pac-Mania High
Score Contest last year and the same is true for the California Extreme 2007
Mr. Do! Contest. His 5,500,000 easily beat the current TG Leaderboard
score of 2,535,852 done by John McKeever. All of the five roll-overs were
timed and recorded by Walter Day of Twin Galaxies. "Jimmy" Tongki Linderman
stopped his game at 5,500,000 'killing off' (Modified 8/15/07 (34*) men in Total
extra men) in storage taking several hours of game play to complete his game.
His tactics and techniques on Mr. Do! are unique and a real eye opener. It was
a sight to see.

Desiree McCrorey, the Mr. Do! Classic Era Champion was another player
at CAX who stopped by to monitor "Jimmy" Tongki Linderman's world
record attempt which went past her classic era score of 1,390,350.

Here is a recent interview with Desiree McCrorey, Classic Era Mr. Do! Champion:

This is my 2nd time at California Extreme.  I want to thank Paul Dean for having this contest.
Of course I did great on Berzerk but I need to work on my Mr. Do and Space Duel games.  Also want
to thank Walter Day of Twin Galaxies, Dwayne Richard, and Paul Dean for verifying my score for my
World Record on Berzerk slow bullets. It was a tough game but I was able to concentrate enough
to do it. I enjoyed meeting people I know and new people I haven't seen before.  Phil Y.

Congratulations to the players on the top scores achieved. I know that the "Berzerk" record has been on the robot killer's wish list for years, so I'm glad that he pulled off a new world mark. I am also aware of Jimmy's "Mr Do" expertise having seem him play at the Philly Classic 2004, if I remember correctly, so well done. As for Gary's "Moonquake", that is a title that I have never heard of before, but I certainly have heard of Gary and I'm happy that he has added another mark to his list of accomplishments.

Great work, guys !! Wish I was there to see it.

Thanks Robert for congrats.  Yeah  thats been on my wish list for a long time.  Took 3 hours
and a lot of concentration.  You mention you haven't seen Moonquake. It is very rare and only
2 are known to exist. Also Marble Man was there and 3 are known. Moonquake has great graphics.

Congratulations on your accomplishments as you both deserve all the credit for
figuring out the key to unlock these classics for these new world record scores.

One never knows which classic will next be dominated by an up and coming
player - crushing the old long standing world record scores from yesteryear.

Hope to see you both at California Extreme 2008 as it is you, the highest
caliber of player who really makes my high score contests intriguing and
a delight to run.

Thank you also to Walter Day of Twin Galaxies, who was able to watch these
world record players in person at CAX 2007 San Jose, CA on August 11-12, 2007.
Their marathon performances and their accomplishments at the Coin Operated
Video Game High Score Contest were nothing short of astounding.

Here is a link to the format of the CAX 2007 Classic Coin Operated Video Game High
Score Contest:

Paul,
You don't have to worry about me breaking your Frenzy record. My record on Mame is 400,000+
on setting extra man every 3,000 points at which point I got tired of playing and stopped. I could go higher
but it would be bad if I could not stand up and move around a little. I think my max. would be 10 hours
for maybe a million points. I can't even thing about playing over 40 hours. I did play one arcade game in
1986 set at extra at 10,000 points and got 68,000 points which was challenging. Thanks again for your contest and hope to be at California Extreme 2008.  Phil Y.

Paul, you should have a go at Rafal "destructor" Politanski's 5 Man Frenzy score of 229,144 from the 2004 TG MAME Decathlon.
