Dean Saglio blows away the top Donkey Kong score

Ever since the documentary movie The King of Kong (and beforehand, too), numerous players have topped the long-standing 874,300 1980's Donkey Kong score by Billy Mitchell.  That list included Dean Saglio, who last November on MAME made a superb mark of 1,073,000, the topmost score ever officially achieved.

The arcade record recently increased to 1.06M, and was closing in on Dean's score... until an early morning game on April 19th, 2010, where Dean pushed things past even a rumored high of over 1.12M by Billy, to a colossal MAME result of 1,136,400 points !  Now, the only question is, can someone raise the bar on the arcade platform, to match...

Sign me up for the "Pigger" fan club! Mark, you're a cool guy and I think what you're doing with Classic Arcade Gaming.com is great. Also, anyone who can play Crystal Castles and Marble Madness at top world level with their feet is deserving of their own fan club! :D

Hi Dantes - welcome to the forums.  Nice to have another cag lover checking in from overseas (Belgium, in this case), plus a CAGDC backer to boot !  Hopefully you guys in foreign lands can spread the news about how great this hobby is.  Maybe you can even let Kim Clijsters know about this site !!

As you may have figured out, there's really no 'Pigger' Fan Club, but you can show your being a fan by participating on these forums !

Thanks for the complements, and being geeky is cool, tho slightly nerdy...  But, most of us cag types are geeks (OK, I can hear a chorus of, "Speak for yourself" !).  As you say, playing games with your feet is a talent, and I'm happy to oblige.

Actually, I've only played Crystal with my feet, tho I may try on Marble, now that you mentioned it.  I'll get some vid, if I do...

Thanks, Mark! I'll back CAGDC any day, what I've seen so far on this forum is more appealing to me than what goes on at the TG forum, people here are way more friendly and personal. Smile And I'll spread the word any day, it is indeed a great hobby and one all gaming fans should at least look into. I know a lot of gamers so I'll probably introduce them to the arcade version of Donkey Kong and whatever not sometime. And for Kim Clijsters (how do you even know about her? I guess you're a (womens') tennis fan - who isn't? Wink), I would if I could ever speak to her someday, which I doubt will ever happen. Maybe she could break the world record on some tennis games, now that she's not so busy anymore since she retired from professional tennis.

And yes, I did realise there's no "Pigger" Fan Club... Yet. I might start one myself. Smile

Being geeky is cool, everyone's got their own hobbies/interests/personality and a lot of what I enjoy is considered "geeky" so I guess that makes me somewhat of a geek as well. And yes, I'd consider playing games with your feet a talent (I doubt I'd ever be able to play a trackball-game with my foot), at least it's a cool (although a bit weird) way to show off your gaming skills. :D

And yes, I thought you'd only played Crystal with your feet yet (I did my research) but since you're a great Marble Madness player I figured you'd be able to do that as well once attempted, and I'm glad I gave you the incentive to do so. Be sure to film it when you do!

Mark, what is your High Score playing with your foot only? warp? or no warp?  Think I'll head downstairs and give it a try.... knowing me,  I'll fall off the game and break something.  Tongue

Good question, Eric.  I never tracked the score, but can probably estimate it pretty close.  As I said in the KoK extended interview, that was the best I had even played, and I made it into level 4, I think.  Anyway, the score was probably around 150K, and that was without any warps.

Let it be noted that my best ever effort on Crystal Castles using my hands exactly matches Mark's best effort playing only with his feet.

Obviously, I've got a lot of work to do on Crystal.
