I'd like to add that the Xarcade also has an awesome button set up.  I like to play a lot of button games like Asteroids, Space Duel, Solar Quest etc and I can make the set up exactly like the originals with my thumb on the Hyper Space/Shield/Nuke button.  It also works great on the slide shooter games like Space Invaders but the joystick can also be used for those types of games.

Im not a big Asteroids/Defender player or any other game that requires several buttons for the exact reason that its to hard to (for me) to play on x-box controller with all the different buttons. Even with a keyboard it still frustrates me (probably why I dislike both Asteroids and Defender). But if I purchase an x-arcade I could defiantly see myself getting right into Defender (I love most games made by Williams- except Splat!) from pictures on the internet I have seen of the sticks they look like they have the perfect layout as Dick mentioned for a game like defender.

I would'nt buy one of these Used.

I brought mine Brand New and it had a button switch go bad on it within a couple of weeks.

They had a hardtime beliving that a switch could go bad that quickly  . But anything could happen.  They quickly send out replacement parts and i replaced them my self.

If i recall they have Life time warretty on them?

The warrantee goes with the unit, so why not buy a used one for cheap?  Of course, having a brand NIB one is pretty cheap right now.  For $99, you won't find a better 2-player unit for MAME/consoles/et al.  To avoid certain button conflicts, be sure to spring for the USB adapter rather than the keyboard passthrough.

Ken House liked them for Robotron so much that he ripped the sticks out of an X-Arcade to install in his own personal Robotron cab (while slightly modifying the microswitches for better response -- like you'd get with the Wico leaf sticks).  He has told me that they're bulletproof reliable and dead on accurate (and I've played on his cab and I agree), and Ken is an absolute snob when it comes to Robotron controls (not a criticism at all).  If that isn't a good endorsement I don't know what is.

Wow, that kind of surprises me. But I guess those Wico's are getting hard to find, and require constant care / cleaning. The X-Arcade sticks do have a very easy circular feel to them. More so than the Happ Super they seem to be patterned on.

Ken did say that if he ever found a source for the correct rubber centering grommets for the original Wico leaf switch sticks that he would reinstall the Wicos.  The "NOS" grommets that are out there are for microswitch sticks and are way too stiff.

Agreed..
Buying brand new, is the way to go. Once the product is registered, you can call X-Arcade until the cows come home, if you need  replacement parts...

As far as 4-way joysticks are concerned, I purchased a Pac-Man 4-way joystick, from Tornado Terry's website. It fits very nicely, into my X-Arcade Dualstick. I have one side a dedicated 4-way, and the other, I left stock, as an 8-way. The only game that I play, which requires 2 sticks, is Crazy Climber. I've never had a problem controlling it, with the joysticks set up differently.

Glad to see Fry's is selling them again (posted so I don't completely derail the thread  ;D  )
