OK - the wait is over !! I just got back the contract I sent to the owner of the Pro Putt Family Fun Center (PPFFC) location in Bloomington, Illinois, which is my location partner for this year's CAGDC Tournament event, and things are initially set... all we need is a minimum number of signups, that is ! For more info on PPFFC, see this thread. Well, for now, all that matters is the games. I have a list of potential titles that I'd like to have as part of a 'vote', like the one from last year, but before I even put that up, I want to run a 'pre-list' by you guys, and let you make note of any problem games. Examples would be ones that allow continues (at least, IF the continue option can't be turned off), games with bugs that are tough to monitor, etc. I've put a '*' next to games that have a continue, and a note if the score goes to zero (these games are no problem for the contest, BUT, keep in mind that you still are not allowed to continue !!). If I've missed one that resets the score on continuation, let me know, and, definitely let me know if there's one with a '*' that allows you to disable the continue feature. And again, be sure to note titles with a 'bug' that's problematic to monitor (I do know about the Galaga 'no-fire' issue). Here's the initial list of possibles for the poll I'll be putting up: Airwolf * - score goes to zero on continues Arkanoid Battlezone Crystal Castles Dig Dug Disks of Tron Donkey Kong Donkey Kong 3 Frogger Galaga - cannot use the 'no-fire' glitch Gorf Jail Break Kangaroo - 'leeching' allowed Mercs * - score goes to zero on continues Nova 2001 - not eligible to be chosen by early signups Rally-X Rampart * Road Blasters * Smash TV * Star Wars Stun Runner Super Hang-On Terminator 2 * The Glob Turbo Sub - not eligible to be chosen by early signups Xybots * ZaxxonNote that this is an initial list, and a few changes (removals, additions, notations) will likely take place before I put up the poll list tomorrow. Another thing to keep in mind is the new feature this year where the first 3 or 4 'early bird' entrants from two groups (1: previous CAGDC contest entrants, and 2: new CAGDC contest entrants) will get to pick a game of their choice to have as part of the final contest set of approximately 14 games. But, note that if you pick a game with an asterisk by it, I will require you to attempt to help me keep an eye out for improper continues, and report any player doing so to me. I'm basically saying that I want as few of these games in the contest as possible, since it's hard to monitor, but, if someone is willing to help me with the monitoring, I'm willing to put the game in. Yep, that's right - you have to agree to 'rat out' people ! But, don't worry - I'll keep any such 'reports' strictly anonymous. I'll likely put the poll up tomorrow morning, and also have the contest info page up on the web site, including a link to PayPal for the 'early bird' entrants to lock in their spot. As always, they will receive a discount for signing up first, and many will likely will get the bonus of a game of their choice guaranteed to be put in the contest (barring, of course, the game 'breaking down', which is unlikely, but possible). But remember, this is limited to the first 3 or 4 (I haven't decided exactly which) from each of two groups; thus, a total of 6 - 8 game-picking 'slots' are available. OK - let the comments roll !

LOL Just kidding. Looks like a great list. I've looked at Air Wolf and Mercs, these you can turn off the continues. Kangaroo has a hard timer. Will be checking the rest out today.

One thing to note is that the Galaga game is an anniversary edition, so it's actually 'Galaga arrangement' and also has Xevious and (?Mappy?)...being a newer game, there's likely to be continues and I'll check them Friday and the other *'ed games.

I tried to have this up earlier today, but couldn't quite get to it. Nonetheless, I put a poll up at the top of this page a couple of hours ago, regarding game selections for the upcoming tournament. Anyone on the forums can feel free to vote, but (of course) I especially want those who are coming, or possibly coming, to chime in, so please do that now, and then read the rest of this post. OK - you're back. Now, I just got done with this year's tourney information page, so check it out next, and read up on all the details (tho most have already been disclosed in this thread, or this one). Now, to the important part. Sign up !! To do that, you can go here for the links to the payment page. You can use a credit card, or a PayPal account, to pay, and there's more than one perk to do so ASAP. The first perk is a discount. Adults and children get $5 off their respective fees for signing up in the next 11 days. Perhaps more importantly, early signups get perk #2, which will be the ability to actually pick a game title that you wish to see appear in the final set of 14 game titles (13 known, and one a 'mystery' title, until the day of the contest). Of course, this is first-come, first-served. 3 'pick' titles are reserved for previous CAGDC Tourney entrants (past participation has its privileges !), and 4 'pick' titles are reserved for 'new to the event' entrants. So... don't wait - sign up now, and pick a game that you want to see and play in the event !! OK, now on to the potential game titles. The list is duplicated in the poll above, but, I have also put it here, with some additional comments. Please feel free to follow up in this thread with any possible game issues that are not noted. Thanks, and I look forward to another incredible contest, thanks to you incredible classic arcade gaming fans ! Airwolf - no continues allowed, even though the score goes to zero Arkanoid Capcom Bowling Crystal Castles - any and all warping allowed Dig Dug - no continues allowed, even though the score goes to zero Discs of Tron Donkey Kong 3 Frogger Galaga - cannot use the 'no-fire' glitch Gorf Gyruss Jail Break Kangaroo - 'leeching' allowed Mercs - no continues allowed, even though the score goes to zero Nova 2001 - not eligible to be chosen (see perk #2, above) by early signups Rally-X Rampart - no continues allowed RoadBlasters - no continues allowed; start at any level Smash T.V. - no continues allowed Star Wars - start at any difficulty / wave Super Hang-On The Glob Vs. Dr. Mario - not eligible to be chosen (see perk #2, above) by early signups; you may play using any combination of the starting options
Xybots - no continues allowed ZaxxonThat's it for now. Be sure to vote, and chime in with any issues on the games listed that I did not note. Thanks, and I'll look forward to seeing a great group at the Pro Putt FFC in late March !!

Sorry guys. I wish i could be there. if I would be able to go at all it would be a last minute thing.
Also it would NOT be profitable for me to go to this event. I would be spending roughly $500 for airfare, hotel and transportation to try to win $150.00.
Last year was profitable because I spent roughly $140.00 to try to win $150.00.
I'll wait until the event comes to Penn, NJ or NY.

Ok, me and Connor are signed up...Game selected: Rampart. I can't think of any contest that would be worth it just for the money...unless you've got a sponsor, like in most sports. It's rare for even the big sports contests to be profitable(prize money only) for a stand alone player/team. Prizes(especially cash) are great, but not the point of competing on the classics. I'm sure there will be lots of fun for all that come...maybe even some unannounced bonus prizes(??).

Thanks, Geoff. I got your payment today, and The Glob is locked in as one of the 14 contest titles. I'll be glad to demo my Glob and CC skills for those who are interested, and plan on doing brief 'tips' demonstrations at the end of the first two contest days, by request. BTW, I like your avatar... Sorry guys. I wish i could be there. if I would be able to go at all it would be a last minute thing.
Sorry you can't be there, Jimmy (unless you get a last-minute cheap flight !). I understand too about the need to at least have a chance to break even on things. It's all about what fits in one's budget. Ok, me and Connor are signed up...Game selected: Rampart. I can't think of any contest that would be worth it just for the money...unless you've got a sponsor, like in most sports. ... I'm sure there will be lots of fun for all that come...maybe even some unannounced bonus prizes(??). Thanks much, Mark ! With Geoff, that makes three signups, and two 'locked' games, including your choice of Rampart.Yes, sponsorship would be nice, but it's hard to come by unless you play games of violence on the consoles ! Yep, I know the event will be a blast, with all the games in that gameroom. And, you must have ESP, Mark, as one 'anonymous' contestant might offer the same deal as at last year's event - bonus prizes for those who don't place 1st - 4th, but have the top score on a few of the contest games. This is not set, but may happen. I'll announce it at the event, or sooner if the person lets me (they're still deciding). Also, if enough kids sign up, I may offer a separate set of prizes just for them, out of my pocket. We'll see how many do end up entering the event. Mark B. -- Hadn't seen Rampart until just a few minutes ago... I think I'd rather play Popeye! Mark A. -- If I sign up for the tourney can I use my vote to DESELECT this game??? LMAO, Pat !! At least I'm not the only one to tell Mark B. how awful that game is. But, he and son Conner enjoy it, so that's great. And... I wish I could offer a deselect option, FYI ! But, we gotta play fair, and Rampart is in ! OK fess up, so who voted for Kangaroo??? Everyone has guilty pleasures!!! ABBA anyone? Not me, either. I only put in Kangaroo as it's an equalizer - meaning, no one's good at it !! And, as you infer, it's not exactly a popular title. But, like Rampart, every game has fans, so, that's cool. As far as ABBA, I proudly admitted my admiration for them, Pat. OK, I'm a little guilty about that... but only a little !
