Holy ****, that would be *****ING!

I went to Ground Kontrol in early January when I was visiting a friend in Portland, but the fighting games weren't established there yet (I just remember some version of Street Fighter II).  It was still an awesome place, I'll have to think about making a return trip.

I also took a picture of your tiled "doormat" because it's too cool:

If only they had AWESOME places like Ground Kontrol in Texas.  :'(

Yeah, we were weak on fighters for a long time, so our last few purchases have meant to step that up a bit.  We've changed the SF:2 cab into a larger monitor as SF:2 Hyper Fighting and our Mortal Kombat II cab has been redone (by yours truly).  We also have a Street Fighter Alpha 3, Soul Caliber 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and I believe we still have KOF '98 in the NeoGeo...

Those are all EXCELLENT choices, fantastic work.  Any plans for Street Fighter Alpha 2?  It's surprisingly quite a different game compared to Alpha 3 and has a fairly strong following of its own.  Although a Samurai Shodown game would probably be a better investment for variety's sake and I can't think of too many other core fighter franchises you're missing out on.

The tourney is tentatively scheduled for Memorial Day weekend.  We'll let you know here when we know more!

Excellent choice, Super Street Fighter II X Grand Master Challenge / Super Street Fighter II Turbo is regarded as one of the best old-school SF's for vs. competition. Great for tournaments, but I don't know how good an idea it would be to have it on the floor for regular play, due to it having one of the most brutal CPU AI's in fighting game history. Would be quite vicious for random people that tried to play it. That would still be pretty cool though!

When was the SF2 changed into SF2 Hyper Fighting? I was there last Saturday and it was still regular SF2...

GK actually had Samurai Shodown 2 about a year ago or so, but took it out when that cab was converted into a 4-slot... I assume it wasn't earning well.

I could be wong there-- I brought the board and marquee down for the swap and it was lost for a while in the office, then found again.  I has assumed it was installed when it was found, but you know what they say about assumptions...  ;D

I'll have to check!
