well, I was a big part of that so I am sorry...but want TG to stop changing rules midstream as they are doing nowadays.
On that I can agree with you. It's unfortunate that so many tracks apparently have settings errors and this never got fixed. The problem only compounds over time as more and more gamers set scores on the "wrong" settings. Maybe that's why they haven't changed them. Maybe they don't want to make the problem worse. *shrug*
Yes, Eric followed the rules he was told by TG. However, maybe he has the first documented turbo play to the kill because he had 5+1. All in the past used 3+1 and I wonder if they had 5+1 if any of them would have made it to the kill....something to think about there.
Eric was so put off by that thread that he didn't bother to tell anybody, so I'll do it for him: he reached the kill with two men in reserve. And the only reason he lost two men at 1.2M was due to the aforementioned family disruption, which apparently was a little more stressful than Wiebe's "Dad!... Wipe my butt!" moment.

So yes, he did effectively kill screen
Pac-Man Turbo at 3+1.
it's not about that at all. It's about current TG refs not even being aware of what the current rules are so are changing them and/or making them up as they go along. It's why I called it a mess.
I can agree with you on that as well. I will admit I didn't read all of that exchange because I'm tired of back-and-forth arguing that goes on for pages. Take it to the refs, the Chief Ref if necessary. That's what they're (supposed to be) there for.
That being said, it has been apparent to me lately that the refs are not communicating with each other very well. Maybe they should have a conference call once a month or so and use a private email list for day-to-day issues. But whatever the case, someone needs to lead the discussions and do so in such a way that conclusions are drawn and decisions are made. I think the Chief Referee should do that, but I've never been a ref so I don't know what the TG structure looks like, only what Robert Mruczek has shared with us as a former staffer. I'm sure it's changed a lot since they've had a complete turnover in staff in the past couple of years.
And I apologize to Eric if I shared more than he wished to have shared but I felt it was necessary to defend his accomplishment. He definitely deserves this WR without a Roger Maris-like asterisk next to his name.
