Thanks for posting the info, Jason.  For those who are unaware, Jason Spindler, who owns one of the few Turbo Sub machines on the planet, is thinking about having an 'arcade party' at his place, in Mount Vernon, Indiana.  Mark Boolman and I both live about two hours away, so we're considering coming out for this interesting event.  My friend Kelly Tharp may also join us, and I'll be contacting Cameron Feltner, who lives very close to Mt. Vernon.

Anyway, when you decide on what date's best for you Jason, put up a post with the full details, including games that'll be there, time of day, directions, etc.

Here's an update for everyone, from an e-mail I received yesterday from Jason:

I say we postpone.  I really want to get all you guys here togeather and I have not moved the CC yet.  Callan has not sent my sound board for turbo sub back yet and I really want it back for my offical (taped) World record game.

I'll post on your forum when I plan to have the next party.

Jason

I wrote back, and agreed that things would be better if it could be done at a later date.

Well, we'll be waiting with news when you have the date set, Jason.  Thanks...

Ok lets do this.  I want to get you guys togeather at the J-cade.  Who can make it in May and what is the best date for everyone.  I am just about done putting togeather a Nova 2001 game from Universal.  There is no TG record for this title so we can have a tournement of sorts and send in the top scores.  Here is the current game list:  Centipede, Bank Panic, Solarfox, Tron, Gorf, Galaga, Turbo sub, Lady Bug, Nova 2001, Frogger, Berzerk, scramble, and warlords.  Also will have a kick butt gameex machine going running mame and daphne.

I'm good for the first two or three weekends in May (tho I realize it would be just one day, and not the whole weekend).  The earlier in the month, the better, for me, and the earlier in the day I could arrive, the better (I picture getting there around noon, and taking off around 6 PM).  Or, did you plan an evening start ?  That could work, but I'd probably need to crash on your couch, if so - my headlights aren't working right, so night driving is out !

Oh, BTW, what's up with Crystal Castles ?  You said you could maybe get it for the party, and wanted a demo, to decide if you'd want to try for my bounty on it.  Can you still get it ?  Also, is Pac or Ms. Pac a possibility, as I'd like to put my 'Glob' kit in one, to play.  Finally, I have a Jamma cartridge that would be nice to play - any chance of getting that going ?

Your GameEx sounds interesting - I've read a little about it here, in the past.  I've also wanted to check out Daphne, so, it sounds like you have a nice setup.  Kelly could finally play Mouse Trap, and have decent control, assuming you have something like an X-Arcade controller.  And, I want Kelly to finally play Mouse Trap, since I've been hearing about it endlessly.  Well, OK, I go on about 'The Glob', so I understand his devotion to a game.

OK, Kelly and Mark B., chime in with your input, and lets get this set !

I can probably go in may, but not sure about which week would be best yet.  I'm thinking second or third week, but gotta see what's going on closer to the time.  I could bring an x-arcade, and I wouldn't mind getting the goods for daphne to work properly, so Jason will have to hook me up before I leave.  Jeff is moving about 2-1/2 hours southwest from me, so I don't know if he'll still be game for going, but he probably will.  I'm in the process of trying to sell my house, so if that does happen, I'll be too busy moving.  I'll keep watching here to see what is decided.  If May doesn't work, I always make a trip to get fireworks a week or two before the 4th of July.

I think the third weekend will best.  Mark, day time is fine or we will find you a place to crash, couch or air bed.  What is wrong with your lights????  I can for sure get a q-bert if kelly is comming.  Tell me more about the glob.  Do you have the board?  What is needed in the cab?  I have an empty pacman cab that could be setup pretty quickly.

Doubt I can get a dedicated mouse trap by then, by the Gameex cab can play it.  I am thinking we should start out mid morning and grill out for lunch and then go from there.

Well, I'm definitely not going to be able to go this time either.  My dad is in the hospital, and my sister's birthday is sat also.  Perhaps I can get to your next one, or make a stop by if we take a vacation this summer.

Sorry for the belated post Jason - Funspot (and covering it on this site) has taken up a lot of my time since I traveled over to see you.

On May 20th, I took Jason up on his invitation to come see the 'J-cade', and, got to see his arcade collection, and his customized gameroom.  Not only does he have some great games (including what may be the world's only fully functional Turbo Sub), but he has a whole bunch of great decorative touches that really set up a nice ambiance for the whole room.  I also like the scoreboard he's got set up, and I enjoyed trying the Nova 2001 game he recently obtained.  I actually got a decent score on it, but, of course, Jason has the current wr.  BTW, what's your current high, Jason ?

Well, hopefully, Boolman will be able to come out in the next few months, and I'll come again.  You were very generous to have a complete food setup ready, in addition to the gameroom amenities (sorry I was too picky to try your grilled goodies, but I love my ready-to-eat stuff).  For next time, get the Timber going (if possible), and get all the game controls working perfectly out of the gate, and it will be 100% ready for a gathering of some great gamers !
