California Extreme 2008 Video Game "High Score" Contest July 19, 2008

Paul Dean’s Third Annual California Extreme Video Game "High Score" Contest Announcement:

This will be a one day competition on Saturday, July 19, 2008 with $200.00 in cash
prizes given out. There will be a nominal $3.00 entry fee for the contest.

We had a great time last year so I thought I'd bring back the video game high
score contest again this year to California Extreme (CAX) 2008.

At Last years 2007 High Score Contest I brought from my classics collection
Mr. Do! and Berzerk and the mystery game Space Duel was provided by
CAX, which were all a big hit.

This year (2008) I will be bringing two different games from my collection in order to
test the different skill-sets of the great players who come to California Extreme
from all over the country.

The 2008 CAX (California Extreme 2008) Video Game contest games from
my collection are the following: Joust, Carnival, Mystery Game

1. Joust, Manufacturer: Williams, Year: 1982, Genre: Lancing

Special Note: Not Allowed: Using Indefinite play trick by sitting on the lower ledge
                     using Pterodactyl hunting technique.

California Extreme is the "Classic Arcade Games Show". In a nutshell, it's an annual
celebration of coin operated pinball machines, video games and other novelties you
once found in game arcades. There are speakers from Atari and other manufacturers
who usually give informative speeches about the by gone arcade era with an inside
look of how the games were made and what drove these programmers to build these
gems. All 400 games are on free play so it's quite a fun time!

Kudos to Paul for putting money out there and another contest opportunity.  Maybe I can get out there next year?

As always, large kudos must go out to Paul for not only organizing and running this contest, but spending well over $1,000 of his own money to: get, and restore, the contest games; truck them in to the event; and offer generous cash prizes, with an incredibly low entry fee.  We need more gamers like Paul in our hobby, and I salute what he's doing.

I'll see you there Paul, and will probably give one of the games a go !
