Hank Chien claims Donkey Kong crown

Hank Chien of New York, New York has vaulted past the former 'Kings of Kong' Billy Mitchell and Steve Wiebe to set a new record on Donkey Kong with an amazing 1,061,700 points.  Hank's new top score beats Billy's record of 1,050,200 points set at a live event in Florida in July 2007.

CAX 2008 “Pinball” Contest Results: July 19, 2008 – July 20, 2008

World Pinball Player Rankings: Results for California Extreme (2008-07-19)

The Three pinball tournaments are based on the eras of the games: modern (1990 to present), solid state (roughly 1975 to 1990), and electro-mechanical (roughly 1960 to 1975).

A fourth tournament is reserved for casual players only, players who have never won a prize in any previous pinball competitions.  This is a bonus division -- casual players are also eligible to win in any of the other three tournaments.

I think I could have done better with more practice games.  I had no idea there was going to be a 5-man only Joust contest this year... or I would have dusted off the Joust rust before I arrived.  250K (TGTS) is not out of my ball park.

It's we who should be thanking you, Paul !  You're great to spend large amounts of money and time to put on your contest, and I appreciate it, as I know many other gamers, and players in this hobby, do too.  Guys like you, me, and quite a few others (refs, forums members, and many more), who give both time and money to put on events, maintain websites, and contribute in many other ways, are what this hobby is all about.

As you say, it's the players that come first (where have I seen that before ??!! Wink).  And maybe one day, 'the entities' will learn (and practice) that too...
